Diamond 'Treasure' Ring Giveaway
February 08, 2012
So far, 2012 is shaping up to be a great year for Danny and Cynthia Flemming. Not only will they be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, but Danny has also been named the winner of the Alton Mill's Fire & Ice festival "Win a Diamond Ring" contest.
Shown here are two photos taken at Gallery Gemma Jewellery in the Alton Mill Arts Centre on Saturday Feb. 11 when the prize was awarded by gallery owner Anne-Marie Warburton.
To be eligible for the prize, each entrant had to write in 100 words or less why their loved one deserved to win the Takohl Treasure Ring. Danny Flemming wrote a heartfelt tribute to his wife Cynthia, in which he described her devotion to their family, especially her tireless dedication to their special needs daughter Jenna.
When Danny first heard about the contest through a friend, he told his oldest daughter Dannelle that he was thinking of entering. Dannelle thought it was a great idea, especially since her parents would be celebrating a milestone anniversary this year.
With his daughter's encouragement and editing skills, Danny penned the touching entry, but never in their wildest dreams could they have prepared themselves for the phone call that came last Thursday from Gallery Gemma.
After Anne-Marie called, she wondered whether Danny would immediately share the news or keep it to himself for awhile. Well, within minutes the whole family was abuzz. Cynthia was called at home. Dannelle was called at work. And to top things off, the news came on Roland's birthday. The timing of the win is perfect for the family, as is the sentiment expressed by that ring: a true gift of thanks for Cynthia's tireless love and dedication.
Even after 25 years of marriage, it is clear that the Flemmings are still very much in love. Danny recalls it was love at first sight when he first spotted Cynthia across the floor at the busy Peddlers Pub in Halifax 27 years ago. The couple and their three children settled in Alton 12 years ago after stops in Toronto, New Brunswick and Mississauga.
Congratulations to the whole family, whose names Danny chose to be inscribed on the ring: Cynthia, Danny, Roland, Dannelle, Jenna.
