Mill Artist, Steve Wilson, off to Turkey!
May 01, 2016
Congratulations to Mill artist, Steve Wilson on being invited to participate in the 8th Portakal Cicegi International Plastic Arts Colony taking place in Dogapark, Turkey!
Steve is a self-taught artist, working in oils, acrylic and aqua resin on canvas. He creates unique art that has been drawing attention in the art community, by combining a 3 dimensional image in a 2 dimensional space. He incorporates the human form into his art to represent the human spirit; without the human aspect art would not exist. A love for our natural environment has also been a driving factor in his art.
“My life experiences are evident in my works exploring the natural past and present of our environment. Also insight into the fantasy realm is evident in my painting, sculpture and body castings.”
Steve is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and previously Director of Exhibitions for the SCA from 2012-2014. He is also a member of the Colour and Form Society, an artist, a teacher and a juror. Steve has participated in many committees and organizations serving on the board at Beaux-Arts Brampton from 2003-2007, first as the Director of Marketing and the last 2 years as President. In addition, he was previously Vise-President of the Mississauga Arts Society.
Steve will be participating in the 8th Portakal Cicegi International Plastic Arts Colony which takes place over a week in Dogapark, Turkey in June. Out of 2000 applications from approximately 48 countries, 46 people are invited to participate each year in an all expense's paid trip. Each artist is required to donate one painting to the museum for this opportunity. Great job Steve!
Steve’s work was recent featured in SIDEROADS Magazine and hangs in many private and corporate collections throughout the world. He has shown across Canada, the United States, Tazmania and has won many awards in juried shows.
