Closing Reception & Meet the artist , April 13th from 2-5 pm.With a focus on Studio Art and Art History, Julia Vandepolder earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Guelph in 2009. She recently won the 'DRAWING 2012' First Prize Award in the 13th Annual Juried Exhibition at the John B. Aird Gallery and the Founding Chairman’s Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (TOAE). She completed a four-week residency at the Vermont Studio Centre and has been continuously exhibiting at public and private galleries across Ontario.Her work is featured in several private and corporate collections including the BMO Financial Group. More of her work can be seen at the Telephone Booth Gallery in Toronto.
Julia Vandepolder's paintings explore transformations within abandoned and collapsing urban and rural architectural complexes. She observes and documents the details of these spaces, focusing on the remaining structures which are extensively patterned through weathering and decay.
