Allison Tait

Toltec Spirit Tattoo, circa 2017 is owned and operated by Dr. Allison Tait, DVM. Allison’s lifelong love of animals and nature has led her on a unique journey. After studying fine art, switching to Veterinary Medicine and running an animal hospital for 20 years, she felt the need to follow a more creative path and made the leap into Tattoo Art. Her background in art, fine surgical skills and knowledge of how to maintain a “clean field” helped to make a smooth transition and after an apprenticeship with a Guelph artist, she opened Toltec Spirit Tattoo in 2017.

Allison has worked in many different styles and is especially excited by gestural water colour, combined with ink pen textures to contract and define. She is fascinated by Chinese brush painting and the incredible dance of ink and paper that so aptly captures a subject in only a minimal number of strokes.

Toltec is a “boutique” style tattoo studio. A spa-like, peaceful, private setting, attention to detail and “by appointment only” format allows Allison to really give each client the best experience possible. And most importantly a tattoo that they love! Allison is booking a year in advance for custom pieces.

Allison believes strongly in environmental action and so donates 10% of her revenue to Nature Conservancy Canada in order to offset Toltec’s footprint.
