AWAKENING THE DRAGON– A Create & Colour Experience with CJ Shelton

The doodling and colouring craze is alive and well … are you ready to take it to the next level?

DATE: Saturday March 18, 2017
TIME: 1- 4 pm
LOCATION: Studio 206, Alton Mill Arts Centre
COST: $45 per person

‘The Path of the Dragon’ was the Celtic term for lines of mystical power which criss-crossed the land. Ancient Druids hunted and mapped these lines as a way of determining where to build sacred sites. For the Celts, dragons, though deadly and often frightening, represented the continuation of life and health. They were omens of fertility, life and abundance and often associated with places of great power in the landscape. Where dragons trod, energy flowed and where they made their lairs became sacred sites.

On the Celtic Wheel of the Year, early spring and the seasonal festival of Ostara was when dragon energy began to stir once again in the land. By honouring and encouraging the return of this elemental life-force we too can awaken theses same energies within ourselves.

In this magical workshop you will learn more about dragon energy, enjoy a magical guided journey to the land of the Druids, then create and colour your own dragon through the art of ‘zentangling’ or ‘zen-doodling’. This intuitive and calming art process is wonderfully relaxing but doesn’t require any special art ability. If you can doodle, you can do it!

Using a combination of pre-drawn patterns, shapes, your imagination and lots of guidance and encouragement from CJ, you can unearth your very own one-of-kind dragon and watch it come to life. This is an easy workshop for all levels of ability. Your take-away will be a beautiful frame-worthy black & white (or coloured) dragon ‘doodle’ on card stock that is a unique expression of your inner dragon-self.
