Headwaters Arts presents One Square Foot, a vibrant and eclectic show, showcasing 12’’x12’’ works by over 20 artists.
The collection of local artists, who range from established to emerging, have reacted to the imposed size restrictions with imagination, and a playful curiosity.
Suzanne Walsh, who has created a number of works for the show, notes that working on a smaller scale has allowed her the freedom to experiment with materials and techniques, incorporating string and glazes into her repertoire. Walsh’s works alone show an energetic range of aesthetic, and One Square Foot comes together as a dynamic look at how individuals choose to occupy space.
The result is a collection of more than 100 innovative works, featuring pieces that are both 2 and 3-dimensional. Other artists represented include: John Ashbourne, Val Ashbourne, Nahid Azari, Karen Brown, Ellen Cameron, Christina Clare, Sue Ennis, Del Foxton, Mary Hanson, Joanne Lomas, Lori MacDonald, Kai-Liis McInnis, CJ Shelton, Natalie Sobo, Margi Taylor, Christine Thammavongsa, Robert D. Norman, Suzanne Walsh, Jackie Warmelink, Carole Watson, and Freda Wrench.
