Headwaters Arts Fall Event; Celebrating the Arts in Headwaters
Wednesday, September 19 - October 8, 2018

Join Headwaters Arts for a spectacular showcase of arts and culture, with one of Ontario's most respected art shows. This year, Headwaters Arts' main event - the Annual Juried Show & Sale - will return to the award-winning Alton Mill Arts Centre. The Opening Night Preview, Thursday, September 20 at 7pm, is your chance to meet the artists and find out what inspires them. Enjoy refreshments and delicious hors d'oeuvres for only $25, in support of Headwaters Arts and Canadian art. Also returning this year is The Big Blues Party, an evening of Blues music with local favourite Larry Kurtz and his solo band The Lawbreakers. For movie aficionados, a special screening of a dramatic biopic, Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti.

Be sure to mark your calendars. Make it a day trip or stay overnight at one of the local resorts! There's plenty to see and do while in the Headwaters Region; from viewing the magnificent fall colours, to trying great local foods, wines, craft beers and ciders, and of course... the art!

Monday Night at the Movies on Monday, October 1, boasts a special screening of Gauguin: Voyage to Tahiti at the Galaxy Cinemas (85 Fifth Ave) in Orangeville. Doors open at 6pm, and the film begins at 7pm. Tickets $14 (tax inclusive). In 1891 Gauguin settles down in Tahiti, where he hopes to find inspiration for his work as an artist and live as a free man in the wild, far from all the moral, political, and aesthetic codes of civilized Europe. In the jungle, he faces loneliness, poverty and disease, and he meets Tehura. She eventually becomes his wife and the main subject of his greatest paintings.
