I fell in love with encaustic several years ago, after studying it at OCAD in Toronto, and R&F Encaustics in New York State. This method involves using beeswax hardened with damar resin mixed with oil paint. As a graduate of OCAD, and a member of the Ontario Society of Artists, I have an extensive exhibition history, and am an enthusiastic teacher. Having given numerous encaustic workshops in other art centres, I am pleased to now have the opportunity to consolidate my teaching activity at the hive encaustic school at the Alton Mill.
For information about my own art, which is for sale at the hive, please visit my artist listing .
I have been leading creative workshops for over 20 years and teaching encaustic since 2002. I love teaching this medium because it lends itself to experimentation, which allows for a sense of freedom and play in the classroom. I offer on-going five-day, one or two day workshops, and recently added a half-day introduction. No previous artistic experience is needed for any of my Encaustic 1 Workshops. Some experience is needed for my Encaustic 2, 3 & 4 workshops, and for Open Studios. Most of my teaching takes place at the hive in the Alton Mill.NOTE: PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL WORKSHOPS/CLASSES/OPEN STUDIOS! Dates listed may change, so please check first, via email or phone.
