Geeza's monochromatic works make an emphatic return to the aesthetic ideals of art as experience, distilling 'sensations of movement and energy' into a compelling abstraction of place. John Geeza draws on his personal connection with the natural environment, growing up in a landscape devastated by coal and strip mining; "...mountains of slag in which nothing grew, and a population in which mine accidents and then black lung eroded health, resilience and hope."
The Headwaters Arts Gallery will be hosting an opening reception on Saturday, August 12th, from 1pm-4pm.
