In May 2012 three local painters, Darlene Hassall, Linda Jenetti and Andrea Trace, spent two weeks in a medieval hill town in Umbria, at a plein air workshop offered by Jody Joseph at the International School of Art in Montecastello di Vibio. Their individual responses to the experience of painting in a new and inspiring locale form the basis of Painters Abroad Umbria: Plein Air and Studio Works, a group show at the brand new Headwaters Arts Gallery

The storied Italian light influenced these Canadian artists and challenged them to alter aspects of their habitual working practice in order to interpret what they saw. This creative struggle is inherent in each of the resulting works and provides both a unifying theme and a narrative flow across the paintings.

The show runs: Wednesday August 14 - Sunday September 8.
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 17, 1 - 4 pm
